akwaniinkwaakani ‘general face mask, Halloween mask, thing that covers the face’
Just around the corner is October’s big holiday…Halloween! To go along with our recent interest in masks, such as our post about COVID masks two weeks ago, this week we have created a new word for a Halloween face mask: akwaniinkwaakani. This word literally means “thing that covers the face” and can be used as a general term for something that covers your face or any kind of Halloween mask that you might wear with your costume this year. We have also created the verb for wearing your mask so if you need to remind someone to put on their Halloween mask be sure to tell them akwaniinkweelo! “Put your mask on!”
Enjoy your Halloween weekend!
