    Good question iihši, if we are translating a Dakota name then maybe it would be easier to call it the Place of the Dakota Near the Mississippi River? “Šaaha + locative” ciikaahkwe mihšisiipi. Maybe David can weigh in on this one.

    eewanki oowaaha mni sota – inki (mni sota is the Dakota word for Minnesota which I’ve heard translated as “land where the waters reflect the sky”. How could we translate that into myaamia?)
